Ohhhh right… I forgot about this thing. I suppose I should update
I decided to go on Xanga again today to see what was happening, and I was instantly annoyed and left. But then I decided to throw together a quick post to both voice my annoyance and let you people know I'm not dead: What's the deal with people who put names in the "Interests" sections of their profiles?
Interests: Complaining about things that nobody else cares about, writing about said things using poor grammar and spelling, quoting Napoleon Dynamite because it's funny when I do it... oh, and Justin. Yeah, that’s right. Justin.
Last I checked, the point of having an Interests section of a profile was to inform people of your interests.
Cindi: "Hi, I'm Cindi. Is your name Justin?"
Bill: "What? No, it's--."
Cindi: "Not interested."
Or, perhaps, to find people with similar interests.
Girl1: "I really like Justin."
Girl2: "Me, too. We have so much in common."
Girl1: "Agreed. I feel that this is a healthy basis for a friendship."
But that is not what this is. This seems to be some sort bastardization of the concept by horny teenagers in search of a more loserish way to proclaim their 'love'.
Justin: "Cindi, I think it’s time we took our relationship to the next level."
Cindi: “You’re not talking about…”
Justin: “Yeah, I think you should put my name in your Interests section.”
Cindi: "Whoa, whoa. Don’t you think that’s a pretty big step? I mean, I just signed your guestbook like a week ago, and now this?”
Justin: "Look, I don't want to push you too fast, but... all the other girls are doing it."
Why can't people just treat their Interests section as seriously as I do?
