Why are we suddenly expected to be interested in the space shuttle again?  Five years ago the average American couldn’t have given less of a crap about that thing.   

Person1:  “Did you hear about the space shuttle?”

Person2:  “Of course not.  Nobody cares about the stupid space shuttle.”

But now it’s all over the freaking place.  You can’t escape it. 

Person:  “Did you hear the latest about the space shuttle?”

FG:  “You mean the part where they went in space and did absolutely nothing for an entire week, yet we got news updates every 5 minutes?”

Person:  “Yeah, thrilling, huh?”

So, why is this such a big story again?  Oh, that’s right.

Reporter:  “Oh my god, the shuttle just burned up on reentry.”

News Editor:  “Oh my god, look at the ratings.”

I’m glad we have television, radio and newspapers to tell us when to be excited about something, or I totally would have missed this one.
