It’s Labor Day today -- especially in America.  There really isn’t another holiday out there that is as big of a two-faced bastard as Labor Day.

Labor Day:  “Good news / Bad news time, dude.  The good news is that I got you the day off of work tomorrow.”

Guy:  “Awesome.  What’s the bad news?”

Labor Day:  “I accidentally killed summer.”

Guy:  “What?”

Labor Day:  “Yeah, summer’s dead.   Gonna be gone for a long time… Have fun tomorrow though, huh?”

The only thing more annoying than Labor Day giving you the back of its hand is having people attempt to impress you with their meteorological trivia by informing you that summer isn’t over yet.

Person1:  “Technically, summer doesn’t end until the Autumnal Equinox on September 22.”

Person2:  “Good point.  On the other hand, technically, your face isn’t an ass, but people are still quite accurate in calling you an assface.”

Person1:  “Good point.”

I hope I haven’t ostracized my non-American readers too much.  Wait, no I don't.
