I came across an odd article today about how the publishers of the children’s book ‘Goodnight Moon’ have “digitally altered the photograph of Clement Hurd, the illustrator, to remove a cigarette from his hand.” It’s good to see that people out there are finally starting to focus on the important issues in life. Just think about how many kids out there started smoking because of ‘Goodnight Moon’.
Adolescent1: “Hey, wanna try a cigarette?”
Adolescent2: “Smoking? Gee, I don’t know about that…”
Adolescent1: “Come on. Everyone’s doing it. Even Clement Hurd smokes.”
Adolescent2: “Wow. Well if it’s cool enough for the illustrator of a book that was read to me when I was a baby, then it’s cool enough for me.”
Goodnight, lungs.
