The Winter Olympics need to get their act together. Between the luge, the skeleton, and the two different kinds of bobsled, there are far too many events where I’m just watching some guy slide down an ice track. How is that even an event?
Mother: “Did you have fun sledding today?”
Boy: “Yeah, I’m thinking about going pro.”
How the hell do you even get into luge? I understand the rest of the events: I know people who ski, or snowboard, or ice skate, or play hockey. I even know a guy who skis around with a rifle and shoots things (there are many a story yet to be written about that character). But I’ll be damned if I’ve ever even heard of anybody who luges on the weekend.
Girlfriend: “Do you want to do something on Saturday?”
Guy: “Umm, I’m busy on Saturday. We’re going… luging.”
Girlfriend: “Luging? Oh my god, are you cheating on me?”
Guy: “…Yes.”
Later, lugers.
